Los Angeles


Overview
            Founded in the summer of 1781, Los Angeles has grown to the second most populous city in the United States.  Los Angeles, commonly referred to with the letters L.A. has become a worldwide landmark for its lavish culture and thriving commerce.  Located in the State of California, L.A. is home to Hollywood which is known to many as the movie production capital of the world.   Servicing over 60 million passengers annually, L.A. is home to the sixth largest international airport in the world.  L.A. is located strategically on the west coast of the United States and conveniently hosts one of the largest ports in the United States.
Fashion District
            Spanning 100 blocks, L.A.’s fashion district is home to a diverse selection of apparel and accessories from all across the world.  The fashion district is home to over one thousand stores.  Known for exceptional bargains, shoppers have the opportunity to buy many items at a wholesale price.  Latest trends can be found in the fashion district.  Recognized as the creative center of the fashion industry, shoppers can find an array brands representing fashion movements from around the world.
Santa Monica
            Santa Monica is a beautiful beachfront city neighboring Los Angeles.  Arguably the most famous aspect to Santa Monica is the beautiful Santa Monica Pier.  The Santa Monica Pier stretches over the Santa Monica Bay.  Beautiful beaches and thriving downtown has molded Santa Monica into a popular tourist destination.  Also, the area has become popular with many celebrities and top executives.  There are three main shopping districts in Santa Monica: Montana Avenue, Downtown District, and Main Street.  Montana avenue is known for its upscale stores and boutiques and is home to many famous restaurants.  The downtown district is an outdoor style shopping experience and features a mall.  Main street features specialty retail stores and is known for its energetic fashion style.
 
Hollywood
            Hollywood is the heart of Los Angeles.  Famous for movie production, thousands of movies have been filmed and produced in Hollywood.  Despite a large majority of the movie industry has moved to surrounding areas, Hollywood remains famous for its cultural identity to cinematography.  One of the landmark areas of Hollywood is Paramount Pictures famous Backlot which is the production home to countless movies.  The world famous Hollywood sign, located in the Santa Monica Mountains, was created in 1923 for advertisement purposes; however, due to increased recognition, the Hollywood sign remained standing.  The sign is nearly 45 feet tall and 350 feet wide and is one of the most valuable cultural landmarks to the area.  Hollywood has been home to many famous actors and remains the primary destination for actors from across the world.
 
California Market Center
            The Market Center is located downtown in the fashion district.  The market holds many showrooms that are open to seller to come set up a store for market.  Inside these stores, sellers represent brand names and sell to buyers.  Every year there a specific times that buyers buy for their store.  In order to see clothing and make purchasing decisions, buyers must travel to market and view collections.  The market allows the exchange between sellers and buyers to take place.  Some showrooms are open yearly and others are only open during market weeks.  There is also a fashion school located inside the market center.  Students come to the markets upper floor and learn fashion design.  The market is massive and a very interesting spot for fashion lovers.
Mannequin Store
            The mannequin store in the Fashion District has many mannequins and body forms.  The shop specializes in items that are used to feature clothing and accessories.  The shop is a family owned business and is increasing in popularity.  The store has been featured on television shows and will be featured on an upcoming show soon!
